Since we launched the original version of billQ about 15 months ago, we've had over 6,000 users sign up to use billQ to help them keep track of their bills. What started as a small side project seemed to really strike a chord and we've received a ton of great feedback along with some suggestions to make billQ even better. And we've been listening. For the past few months we've been rebuilding billQ from the ground up to improve some of the existing features, and to add some new ones that will make billQ even more helpful.

A quick run through of some of the highlights:

  • The upcoming bills page can now be sorted by time period (e.g. Current Month, Next 30 Days, etc.).
  • Reminders can now be customized for specific bills.
  • Creating and editing schedules is more intuitive. Editing an instance of a schedule no longer creates a duplicate.
  • Information on each Group is now displayed more clearly.
  • There is a summary widget on each page that gives you an idea of exactly what you have due for the selected time period.
  • You can now have all your reminders sent in one email or one text message.
  • We have incorporated some extensive reporting that will allow you to make sense of all your bills once they are paid. You can also export these reports to a number of formats (.csv, .xls, and .qif).
  • And more...

Some of these features are limited depending on the plan you have, which brings us to the next big change...

We are offering a paid version of billQ called billQ Plus that gives you access to the full range of features along with extra security through a SSL.

This paid version will cost $5/month or $50 if you prepay for the entire year, and it will be available when we open billQ up to the public in about one week. But, as a thank you to our current users, anyone migrating over from the old version of billQ will get a special Legacy Plan that gives them more features than the traditional Free Plan, but will still not cost a penny. It's kind of an in-between for the two plans with the goal of saying thanks.

There is a ton more to talk about, and there will be some specific feature highlights and tips as we get moving, but for now we just wanted to say hello. If you have any questions or comments, leave a comment or send us an email. There is more to come, and we hope to do some exiting things with the blog, so make sure to subscribe. Talk to you soon.
