Why We Make billQ

We hate late fees. So want a simple product that does one thing, and does it well: help people remember to pay their bills to avoid late fees.

We think this is a valuable service, so we charge for it. If you agree, we'd love to have you as a customer so we can continue to solve other problems in the same way.

The billQ Story

The first time you get charged 35 bucks for being a mere 24 hours late on a bill payment is infuriating. It’s understandable how it happens: you get busy, you have other things on your mind, or you just plain forget. But now you’re stuck with that $35 late fee. Money flushed down the toilet. And to add insult to injury, if it’s for a credit card bill, you might even get hit with a ridiculous APR increase. Overall, not a pleasant experience.

So what do you do? Figure out a way to make sure it never happens again. But unfortunately there aren’t many good tools to help you keep track of your bills and remind you to pay them.

That running list in your head is stressful, sticky notes are clunky, calendar reminders aren’t designed for bills, and using your bank’s website, well, just try using your bank’s website.

Whether that exact scenario happened to us personally (it did), or we heard it described by friends and family (we did), we felt it was unfair. It didn't have to be that way, so we wanted to build a tool to help people fight back. And for the past 5 years we’ve been doing just that. We call it billQ, but you can call it the best way to get bill reminders and avoid late fees.

Thousands of our customers have received over 500,000 bill reminders during that time. We think that makes a pretty good dent in the problem, but we don't want to stop there. We’re constantly tweaking billQ to make it simpler and more effective. And we want to make sure everyone knows about billQ so they never waste money on another late fee.

If you're a customer, we hope billQ has been useful and we thank you for your support (please tell your friends!). If you're not, we'd love it if you gave billQ a try.

Thanks,
Nick & Zack
